In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced a donation of ₹1 crore to assist the families of those who lost their lives in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, tragically claimed 26 lives, including two foreign nationals and a businessman from Karnataka.
NSE CEO Ashish Chauhan expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic terrorist attack in Kashmir... In a humble gesture of support, NSE pledges ₹1 crore to the next of kin of the victims, standing in solidarity with their families during this difficult time." mint
This contribution adds to the collective efforts of various organizations and individuals offering support. Earlier, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani offered free treatment for the injured at the Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir government announced ex gratia payments of ₹10 lakh for the families of the deceased, ₹2 lakh for those seriously injured, and ₹1 lakh for individuals with minor injuries.
The Pahalgam attack, which took place in the Baisaran area—popularly known as 'mini Switzerland'—is considered the deadliest in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserting that those responsible will be brought to justice and emphasizing the nation's unwavering resolve to combat terrorism.
NSE's initiative underscores the importance of collective support and resilience in the face of such tragedies, aiming to provide some relief to the bereaved families during this challenging time.
